Because teas for liver health work. Sure, teas in general come with a bevy of health perks. You’ve probably heard everything from tea working as a supernatural fat burner to literally preventing cancer. But we’re not here to comment on the more miraculous side of tea.

This article is all about one thing and one thing only: liver health and exactly how tea can help.

But why should you care so much about your liver? Why is liver health important? Well, the liver is possibly one of the most important organs in your body, filtering toxins from your blood and cleaning up your system. When people’s livers go bad, they often have to get liver transplants and other extensive operations.

Having a healthy liver may benefit overall bodily health, help you lose weight, and even help to diminish aches and pains. Knowing all of this, it’s no surprise that people want to do whatever they can to increase their overall liver health.

And sipping on some pleasant, warm tea is an important step in that direction.

What’s the Best Tea for Liver Health?

Since tea is such a good liver helper, what teas are best for promoting liver health? Well, it depends on what sort of liver benefits you’re after – check our list below for a few tea recommendations for those wishing for a healthy liver.

Health King’s packaging was enough to draw us in. But, as it turns out, it’s also a great way to promote your liver health, especially if you’re looking to overcome health conditions like a fatty liver or help your liver through an infection.

Made from reishi mushrooms, wolfberries, and a host of other health-boosting ingredients, this tea is an experience you cannot afford to miss. It works as a tonic, and the company has been making this tea all the way since 1994.

Just one look at its Amazon reviews and you’ll see why this tea has managed to rack up so many glowing reviews over the decades. It’s precisely because reishi mushroom has very unique benefits for your liver health. Like what, you ask?

For starters, reishi mushrooms have been shown to contain chemicals that help protect against tumors and viruses. It’s even been found to reduce the overall load of the hepatitis B virus in the body as well as help fight against the human papilloma virus (HPV), genital herpes, and cold sores.

But the thing that really solidifies this Reishi Liver Guard Tea as one of the best teas for liver health is the fact that reishi mushrooms are uniquely beneficial for reducing fatty liver disease.

And, of course, it doesn’t stop there – the high reishi mushroom content in the tea boosts your overall immune system, providing immune support along with liver health, so you may even be able to get some small level of protection against seasonal diseases along with those great liver benefits.

It’s natural, it works, and the tea is actually quite scrumptious. This tea will make a great addition to your tea cabinet.

Super Herb Tea Milk Thistle

With such a super name, you’d think the Republic of Tea would promise some pretty big benefits. But the Amazon listings are actually fairly modest – just how we like it.

At the same time, it doesn’t really do justice to just how good milk thistle is for your liver (you have to check the reviews for that).

Most of this tea’s magic is attributed to the fact that it’s made from milk thistle- a folksy plant with possibly centuries of anecdotal proof on its healing capacities. Its main claims to fame? Milk thistle plays a powerful role in protecting the liver from toxins. It’s not entirely understood how it works. But it is believed that milk thistle is able to shield the liver from damage typically caused by free radicals. The result is less liver inflammation and overall damage.

This is why milk thistle has more recently taken up elite status as a hangover remedy. So on top of the overall liver protective benefits, it helps to keep a stash of this tea on hand for those nights when you want to kill a bottle of red. Trust me, it makes for one of the best teas for a hangover.

So now you know why milk thistle is quite possibly the best tea for liver health – but what about the taste, you ask?The nice thing about this blend is that it’s infused with organic orange peel and grapefruit, so you’ll likely be sensing a certain underlying fruitiness as you make your way through a warm cup. A nice touch, really.

And for those that are avoiding toxins in all forms – you’ll be relived to know that this blend is certified USDA organic. So, if you’re the kind of person who believes goodness comes from mother nature, you’ll be satisfied with this herbal blend.

Milk thistle has been used in European cultures for thousands of years to help detoxify the body- so why not use it now? After all, sometimes the best health remedies are the ones that we’ve found tried and true.

Goji Herbal Tea by Health King

Here’s another great recommendation from Health King. If you don’t like the idea of drinking a hot cup of mushroom tea, maybe this goji berry blend is more your speed.

And it’s not just the taste – although goji berries are yum – it’s the fact that these little red fruits are an abundant source of a carotenoid called zeaxanthin dipalmitate (ZD), which has been shown to have hepatoprotective, anti-fibrotic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, anti-tumor, and chemo-preventive properties that all serve to benefit and protect the liver.

This is another one of those products that promises a 100% natural herbal blend. So, health nuts never fear – this blend won’t give you a high dose of factory chemicals or other scary ingredients.

With a blend of roots and leaves from various herbs, you can be sure that you’re getting a wide range of effects from the plants our modern society often overlooks. Not to mention, this blend helps nourish both your liver and your kidneys. So, you’ll be satisfied in getting that double kick of nourishment from one loving cup.
